“What do you do, Rahul?” asked Raj.
“I work as a Sales Manager at XYZ Company,” replied Rahul.
“Aaah, Corporate Slave,” Raj smirked.
But, Raj has no idea about Rahul's life. Rahul is the only son of his parents. His mother is fighting against cancer and his Dad is a professional alcoholic.
So, Rahul has no other option other than safely working nine to five. Because he can't afford to not earn anything for a month. He can't take risks.
There are many Rahuls all over the world. And they are tagged with the derogatory term Corporate Slave.
It has become a fashion in this era of startups to slam a man working 9 to 5. People are encouraged to leave their jobs. Social Media heavily promotes ditching a secure job and taking risks. And that's shameful.
Such people need to realise that working 9 to 5 is also dignified and honourable work. They are honest and hard workers.
Even if Rahul is not in any such situation and still chooses to work 9 to 5, he should not be slammed by such terms. He loves it and he is happy with it. It's his call and he is enjoying it.
I wish the scenario gets changed. I hope these people receive the same respect as the entrepreneurs. I wish they get the appreciation they deserve.
My sincere respect to you, if you are one of them.
Don't feel ashamed. Don't feel inferior. Love and feel proud of yourself and your work.
